FAQs

Do you take intact dogs?

We only accept intact males at this time. Intact females at any age can cause a big change in the pack dynamics and make males more aggressive, which leads to safety issues with the larger group. Our biggest priority with our groups is safety!

What breeds are not allowed?

We don't breed-restrict, but we do personality restrict. Since we are a smaller operation, we do thorough personality assessments to ensure safety in our groups. We have a two-step onboarding process, starting with a meet and greet, followed by a required trial daycare. This allows us to conduct a behavioral assessment, and assess how well new pups will acclimate to our existing group.

What does a behavioral assessment look like?

During our meet and greet, we bring our family dog, Cricket to observe the interaction between Cricket and new guest dogs. Cricket has a playful temperament and does well with appropriately correcting undesirable behaviors. We look for "green light" behaviors that invite Cricket to play - this may be a "play bow" (think downward-dog pose in Yoga), or running off to invite Cricket to chase. For pups who are older or more introverted, ignoring Cricket in preference of sniffing around the property are potentially positive signs for our groups as well.

Some "yellow light" behaviors may be aggressively correcting Cricket if she attempts to sniff or invite the pup to play. This may look like backward-facing flat ears,  raised fur along the ridge of a dog's back, or inappropriate growling. For some pups, these behaviors are also a sign of anxiety, and since this would be a pup's first time to our property, anxiety would be understandable. Other common yellow-light behaviors we sometime see is chest-bumping or excessive mounting/humping (which can lead to fights). We call these "yellow light" behaviors, because sometimes they go away when a dog feels more comfortable at our place.

"Red light" behaviors are behaviors we are unfortunately not able to accommodate. These behaviors would be biting, or a bite attempt, toward another dog or human. Other red light behaviors would be severe separation anxiety that would provoke a dog to attempt to escape from our property, or damage a kennel during rest time.

What's the feeding and medication routine?

We feed pets in the morning and evening, unless they have a different routine at home, then we will follow that routine. Dogs come with their own food, packed in individual quart-sized or gallon-sized Ziploc bags. We do have a refrigerator for canned/wet food.

We do not charge extra for administering pill/tablet medication, but may upcharge for eye/ear drops and/or medication requiring syringes, especially if a pet has difficulty taking these medications. We ask that owners bring their own preferred medication delivery aids (pill pockets, peanut butter, etc.).

What can I bring for the kennel?

Pups can bring their own beds or blankets, but please note that we may not be able to wash larger items if soiled due to our washer's size capacity.

We welcome chew toys for down time, but if there's a choking hazard concern, we will elect to keep chew toys in the pup's belongings. We do not give any rawhide chews.

We do offer lick mats and treat-filled Kongs for an additional fee.

What's a typical day look like for dogs?

Our goal is for every pup to have as much fun as possible, as safely as possible!

We aim to have at least 3-4 hours of daily supervised outdoor time, rain or shine. We heavily monitor pups' responses to the temperature outside and may bring pups who have difficulty with colder and hotter temperatures inside for short breaks. Pups love our playground and large yard to run, sniff, or nap in the sunshine! We have a covered area for the rainy days, and shaded areas with fans and shallow pools for warmer days. Clean, fresh water is always available for all our guests.

We do kennel for naptime to provide a calm break midday. This greatly helps pups reset and better regulate their behaviors during their time outside.

How is payment handled?

We use Paw Partner as our booking and payment software. After a meet and greet, an onboarding email will be sent to get new customers set up in the system. We require prepayment for all of our services, and card must be on file in the event additional charges are incurred.

Do you provide any training or grooming services?

Unfortunately, we do not provide training nor grooming services at this time, but we do provide baths for an additional fee. Stays for 6 nights or longer qualify for a free bath and towel dry at checkout.

Do you provide any discounts for longer stays?

At this time, we do not offer any discounts for longer stays but we do provide baths every 2 weeks (or more often if needed), and a soft bed for their kennel that is washed often.

What vaccines are required?

For dogs, we require three vaccines to be up to date: Rabies (1 or 3 year), DHPP/DaPP (1 or 3 year), and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccines. We highly recommend pups also have Leptospirosis vaccines, but do not require it at this time.

For cats, we require two up to date vaccines: Rabies and FVRCP.

Pet owners upload records of their vaccines to the Paw Partner software, and the software will alert when vaccines are about to expire.

At what age can I start bringing my pup?

We require puppies to have completed ALL rounds of puppy vaccines. These are usually completed within 2-4 vet visits and around 16 weeks of age. Please note we do not take intact females of any age.
